PRESSURE IN PERFECTION
As a society, our pursuit to be perfect is increasingly becoming insatiable whether we are seeking perfection in our selves, our, work, or in other people, there seems to be an insane need to be better at all costs. However, the process or the true cost of it is never or rarely ever talked about. The reality of ''becoming '' is not seen as sexy enough to be included in the glossy pages of our lives nor as part of the journey of our perfect story. Nobody ever talks about the pain and sacrifices involved in the infant stages because I guess they are simply not glamorous enough to be included. As a result, we have developed a culture of masquerading our selves in different ways and pretending to be.
whether we are pretending to be ready-made, pretending to already have 'had' or whatever it is we are displaying to others as a marker of being perfect. we are constantly on the podium putting ourselves up as a poster child for what 'it' looks like but the reality is that none of us has really attained, we are all in the mere stages of becoming.
Yes, there might be pressure in the process but it is in that trench that we discover our authenticity. It is in the process in which we discover the allure in our handicap and it can also be at that time that abuse becomes inevitable, however, while we are in this we truly find our selves.
